Yaki Nori sheets are produced immediately after the seaweed is harvested, as the umami aroma of Nori is highly volatile. The seaweed is ground into a paste and dried in a frame. Up to 300g of fresh Nori is used for each sheet.
These seaweed sheets can be used to create much more than just Asian dishes. They can also be integrated into your diet in other ways. Beyond Maki sushi, you can also roll vegetables into the Nori sheets and steam them afterwards. Roll a cut-up sheet into a spring roll to give it more flavor. Strips of Nori are also a great topping for salads or an addition to a vegetable stir-fry.
